Ugly Winter Sweater

The ugly Christmas sweater is the only garment in existence where failure is the goal, and it turns out to be harder than it looks.

Merely bad is not funny. What works is commitment: too many motifs, colours that genuinely fight, something three-dimensional attached where nothing should be attached, and a total absence of restraint. Halfway there just looks like a sweater somebody chose badly, which is sad rather than funny.

The design tools here go far enough to get properly over the line, and the finished thing can be worn by the character, which is the payoff.
