Fairy costume has a logic behind it. The clothing borrows from the natural world, so it runs to long dresses, lace and ribbon, flowers worn in the hair instead of carried, and jewellery made from gold, silver and rough stones rather than cut diamonds. Wings are the one piece with no real-world equivalent, which is why their colour ends up setting the palette for everything underneath.

Pick them early. Choosing a dress first and then hunting for wings that agree with it is how most first runs go wrong.
